Sonja B. Haber, Ph.D.
Dr. Haber has been conducting work in the area of human performance analysis for over 25 years. She has been involved in the evaluation and intervention of human performance in various applications. For the last 15 years, Dr. Haber's work has been focused on the role of organization and management influences on safety performance. She has been primarily involved in fieldwork conducting organizational evaluations across various types of organizations traveling extensively in North America, Europe and countries of the Former Soviet Union. Her work includes cross-cultural analysis of organizational issues, in the areas of safety performance, organizational culture and management and supervisory skills. For the last eight years Dr. Haber has also been significantly involved in work related to the organizational and programmatic aspects of training, specifically in the development and transfer of technology related to the Systematic Approach to Training. Dr. Haber also conducts workshops in communications and management and supervisory skills training.


Deborah A. Shurberg, Ph.D.
Dr. Shurberg's primary areas of expertise lie in the development of methodological tools useful for the evaluation and improvement of organizational functioning and in the assessment and evaluation of human resource practices critical to effective organizational performance. In particular, her work focuses on the improvement of human performance within organizations that must function with a high degree of reliability to ensure safe performance. She has worked with over 25 different organizations in this area, representing industries such as nuclear power, mining, health care, chemical reprocessing, and research. Dr. Shurberg also has significant work experience assisting in the transfer of training technologies and techniques proven effective in organizations that place a high degree of emphasis on safety. She has worked in organizations in North America, Europe, and countries of the Former Soviet Union. Her work in this area includes cross-cultural analysis of organizational issues, specifically in the area of organizational and safety culture and management and supervisory skills.


Paul Thurmond, Ed.D.
Dr. Thurmond has over 25 years of experience in the areas of training and personnel development, management consulting, organizational development, operations enhancement, and human factors. His expertise covers all phases of project work, including planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation. He has worked extensively with clients in the nuclear power industry as well as with government, fossil utility, pulp and paper, chemical processing, and refinery clients. Dr. Thurmond developed and managed a training department with over 75 personnel and had responsibility for operation and maintenance of two nuclear power plant simulators.
